When you've drafted a document, and are ready to revise it, start by making your computer zoom out from the page, until you can't read the words. How does your draft look from this distance? Do whitespace, headings, and lists make the document look friendly and accessible, or do long, dense blocks of writing make the document look unfriendly and difficult?
First impressions are important when we meet each other in person. They're just as important when we meet each other on paper.

Kenneth, this is a great tip, thanks. Going to have to share it!

Good!
Also:
1. Rotate your document 180 degrees, and look for 'weird' stuff in it;
2. put your computer screen in front of a mirror and go to the back of it: same as above;
3. semi-close your eyes and look at your document: good for white space an color checking.
Cheers,
